The production of isopropyl alcohol is a two-step process. <\/p><p>In the first stage, propylene and hydrogen gas are combined with the aid of a catalyst under high pressure and temperature. As a result of this reaction, propylene reacts with hydrogen to form an intermediate product called isopropyl aldehyde. <\/p><p>In the second stage, isopropyl aldehyde reacts again with hydrogen to form isopropyl alcohol. This reaction is carried out under high pressure and temperature with the aid of a nickel catalyst. <\/p><p>The isopropyl alcohol obtained is subjected to purification and processing steps. These steps may include neutralization with basic substances such as sodium hydroxide or sulfite, distillation, and dehydration.
